The demise of Asha Bhosle has left a void in the Indian music industry that can never be filled. Legendary singer Arati Mukherjee fondly recalled her first meeting with Asha Ji in 1958 during a music competition in Mumbai.
Arati, then a 14-year-old prodigy, was mesmerized by Asha Ji's rendition of ‘Eena Meena Deeka’. “She was so simple yet stunning in a white saree and pearl earrings. When I touched her feet, she told me- we will surely meet again,” Arati reminisced.
According to Arati Mukherjee, Asha Ji was an incredibly hardworking artist who constantly innovated. Her ability to blend Western styles into Indian film music was unparalleled. Beyond the spotlight, Arati praised her for balancing heavy family responsibilities alongside her stellar career, calling it a divine blessing. Mourning the loss of her colleague and inspiration, Arati lamented, “She lived a complete life, always full of energy. Now I wonder, whose voice will we look forward to?”
