The West Bengal government, led by CM Mamata Banerjee, has introduced numerous welfare schemes like Lakshmir Bhandar and Kanyashree to support its citizens.

Adding to this, a significant security update has been implemented in the ‘Krishak Bandhu’ scheme’s official portal to safeguard the personal data of millions of farmers across the state.

• Introduction of Data Masking: Previously, anyone could access a farmer's sensitive details-including land records and personal IDs-on krishakbandhu.net by simply entering a Voter ID or Aadhaar number. To curb this, the government has now introduced ‘Data Masking.’
• Enhanced Privacy Measures: Following the security protocols of the Central Government's PM-Kisan portal, the Krishak Bandhu status will now show a significant portion of personal identification numbers hidden behind ‘X’ marks. This ensures that unauthorized individuals cannot misuse sensitive ID information.

While the ongoing election cycle restricts new financial disbursements, this technical upgrade is a crucial step toward enhancing digital privacy and preventing data theft for the farming community.
