In a shocking incident of lawlessness in Bihar's Gaya district, an ASI, Bikram Paswan, was brutally assaulted and his arm broken by MLC Kalam Qureshi and his associates.
The officer was on duty Thursday night when he asked a local shopkeeper to close his establishment as per the regulated hours. This led to a violent confrontation where the MLC and his supporters allegedly pounced on the officer.
According to the complaint, Paswan was beaten with sticks and kicked repeatedly, resulting in a fractured left arm and severe internal injuries. His uniform was torn in the scuffle before locals intervened to save him. The officer is currently undergoing treatment at Gaya Medical College and Hospital. While the police have arrested two individuals in connection with the attack, the prime suspect, MLC Kalam Qureshi, remains absconding. High-ranking officials have visited the victim’s family, promising swift justice. This incident has sparked widespread outrage regarding the safety of frontline officers facing political high-handedness.
