The political landscape of Nandigram turned volatile once again as a mass outreach program by TMC candidate Pabitro Kar led to violent clashes in the Basulichak area.
The unrest began during a large-scale bike rally organized by the Trinamool Congress, which triggered a massive face-off between rival political factions.
According to local reports, the situation escalated when a group of individuals chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’ as the rally passed by. In response, TMC supporters raised ‘Joy Bangla’ slogans, leading to a heated exchange that quickly spiraled into physical altercations and stone-pelting. Several bikes were damaged, and supporters from both sides reportedly sustained minor injuries. TMC leadership has alleged a pre-planned attack on Pabitro Kar's convoy, while the opposition has denied the claims, citing provocation. A large contingent of police and RAF was rushed to the spot to restore order. The area remains under strict vigil to prevent further escalation.
