A 22-year-long wait for the residents of Murshidabad has finally come to an end with the laying of the foundation stone for the Nashipur Halt Station.
This project, which is a crucial part of the Azimganj-Murshidabad railway link, had been stalled for over two decades due to land acquisition issues and legal hurdles. Now, with the commencement of construction, the wheels of development are set to turn once again in this historic region.
Railway officials present at the ceremony highlighted that the Nashipur Halt would significantly ease the commute for thousands of local passengers who previously had to travel long distances to access the railway network. The project is expected to bridge the gap between the twin towns of Azimganj and Murshidabad, providing a seamless travel experience for locals and pilgrims alike.
The local community is particularly optimistic about the boost this station will provide to the tourism sector. Nashipur is home to several heritage sites, including the famous Nashipur Rajbari. With a dedicated railway stop nearby, tourists will have easier access to these historical landmarks, which in turn is expected to stimulate the local economy and create new employment opportunities. Residents believe that the station will serve as a catalyst for overall regional growth, putting Nashipur prominently on the tourist map of West Bengal once again.
