Abhishek Kumar Singh, a native of Hajipur in Bihar's Vaishali district, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the 102nd rank in the national Civil Services Examination.
An IIT graduate who once worked for a multinational startup, Abhishek chose to trade his lucrative career for a life dedicated to public service, driven by a desire to bring innovations to the grassroots level.
His academic roots trace back to the Ramakrishna Mission in Purulia, followed by his higher secondary education in Hajipur. After an unsuccessful first attempt, Abhishek did not waver. He quit his job, focused on self-study and online coaching, and eventually triumphed on his second attempt. His optional subject for the exam was Zoology.
Coming from a family of intellectuals and social workers-his father, Abhay Kumar Singh, is a professor and registrar at Nalanda Open University, and his grandfather, Gaya Singh, served as a Panchayat head for 25 years-Abhishek was always surrounded by an environment of service. His parents expressed immense pride in his dedication and academic consistency. Recognising his achievement, the District Magistrate of Vaishali honoured Abhishek and his family, marking a moment of great pride for the region.
