After a volatile Monday and Tuesday, West Bengal is bracing for even more turbulent weather this Wednesday. The Alipore Meteorological Department has issued a high alert due to the formation of dual cyclonic circulations and a trough line extending from Bihar to Manipur.
South Bengal on High Alert: A severe Kalbaishakhi (Nor'wester) with wind speeds reaching 70-80 kmph is expected to lash districts including Birbhum, Hooghly, Howrah, and North 24 Parganas. An Orange Alert has been sounded, with heavy rain predicted for parts of East Burdwan and North 24 Parganas.
North Bengal Turmoil: The North is equally affected, with Orange Alerts issued for Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar. Darjeeling and Kalimpong are likely to witness gusty winds up to 60 kmph.
Scientific Reason: The influx of moisture from the Bay of Bengal, coupled with atmospheric instability, is triggering the formation of massive cumulonimbus clouds. While the intensity may slightly decrease by Thursday, coastal areas like East Midnapore and South 24 Parganas will remain under a Yellow Watch.
