In a stern warning to Islamabad, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday slammed Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif for his provocative remarks threatening to attack Kolkata.
Speaking at a public rally in Barrackpore, Singh reminded Pakistan of its historic defeat 55 years ago, stating, “If they dare to look towards Bengal again, only God knows into how many fragments Pakistan will be divided this time.”
The controversy erupted after Khawaja Asif told reporters in Sialkot that if India attempted any “false flag operation,” Pakistan would take the fight to Kolkata. Dismissing this as a hollow threat, Rajnath Singh invoked the 1971 war, which led to the creation of Bangladesh with India’s assistance. He emphasized that the Pakistani military still bears the scars of that surrender.
Recalling ‘Operation Sindoor,’ launched by India following the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam last April that claimed 26 lives, Singh noted that the Indian Army brought Pakistan to its knees in just 22 minutes. “If Pakistan tries any more misadventures, the Indian Army will deliver a response they will never forget,” he added. By addressing the threat directly from West Bengal soil, Singh sent a clear message that India stands ready to defend every inch of its territory against foreign provocation.
