To address the grievances of consumers and ensure seamless distribution, a dedicated 24-hour Control Room has been established at Nabanna, the state secretariat. This move comes after reports of delays in cylinder deliveries and fears of a growing supply-demand gap.

Why the Intervention? Over the past week, thousands of households in both urban and rural Bengal have complained about the irregular supply of cooking gas. There have been concerns that some distributors might be creating artificial scarcity to promote black marketing. To protect consumer interests, the Chief Minister's office has ordered direct monitoring of every district’s LPG stock and supply frequency.

The Role of the Control Room: The newly formed Control Room will act as a bridge between the state government, oil manufacturing companies, and local distributors. It will keep a real-time record of the total cylinders booked versus delivered in each district. District Magistrates have also been alerted to conduct surprise checks at distribution centers.

Relief for Common Man: The government has assured citizens that there is no need for panic booking. The primary focus of this initiative is to eliminate the bottlenecks in the supply chain. If a consumer faces an unexplained delay or is asked to pay more than the stipulated price, they can report the matter to the state-level monitors. This proactive step by Nabanna is expected to stabilize the LPG market within a few days, bringing much-needed relief to millions of kitchens across the state.
