In a chilling incident in Muzaffarpur’s Khanguradih Panchayat, around 100 villagers fell seriously ill after consuming ‘Prasad’ at a religious ceremony.
The victims, primarily women and children, suffered from severe vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, leading to widespread panic in Ram Khangura village.
The incident occurred at the residence of Lotan Das, whose son is scheduled to get married on April 17. To mark the pre-wedding rituals, a Satyanarayan Puja was organized on Saturday. While everything seemed normal initially, the health of the attendees began to deteriorate rapidly on Sunday morning.
An ambulance from Katra PHC rushed the patients to nearby hospitals in Katra and Singhwara. Dr. Kumar Kalyan, In-charge of Katra CHC, stated, “It appears to be a clear case of food poisoning. Fortunately, all patients are now out of danger, and many have been discharged after primary treatment.” Medical authorities have seized samples of the food items for laboratory testing, and local police have initiated an inquiry into the matter.
