Veteran actor and writer Piyush Mishra recently shared his experience working with Ranbir Kapoor and paid tribute to the late Irrfan Khan in a high-profile interview.
Speaking candidly with ‘The Lallantop’, Mishra offered his sharp insights into the personalities and careers of both actors.
Ranbir Kapoor: The ‘Naked Shameless Man’?
While discussing Ranbir Kapoor, who hails from one of Bollywood’s most renowned film families, Piyush Mishra made a statement that instantly grabbed headlines. Mishra revealed that despite his lineage, Ranbir Kapoor does not carry “1 percent of the burden of his legacy.”
Mishra further stated, ‘Arey, don’t even ask, that boy is something else, I have never seen such a nanga besharam aadmi (naked, shameless man) till date.’ Mishra described Kapoor as ‘completely light, completely free.’ He stressed that Ranbir feels absolutely no pressure from the long line of heritage extending to his father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Prithviraj Kapoor. He noted that Ranbir is entirely focused while working but immediately relaxes the moment shooting ends.
Mishra Remembers Irrfan: ‘He Left Too Soon’
In addition to discussing Ranbir Kapoor, Piyush Mishra offered a heartfelt tribute to the late Irrfan Khan. Expressing sadness over Irrfan’s passing due to cancer in 2020, Mishra said he ‘left too soon’ and was a ‘very good actor.’
Mishra admitted he was not as close a friend to Irrfan as others, such as Tigmanshu Dhulia or Vishal Bhardwaj, but they shared a mutual respect. He recalled, ‘We used to tell each other, ‘You did good work.’ A relationship was formed right there.’ Mishra concluded by wishing for Irrfan’s soul to rest in peace and for his sons to become great actors.
