Ahead of the high-voltage Assembly Elections in West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, and Tamil Nadu, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure a hassle-free experience for voters.
Under the ‘Assured Minimum Facilities’ (AMF) mandate, over 2.18 lakh polling stations will now undergo a major upgrade.
Key Amenities for Voters: To eliminate the discomfort of standing in long queues, the ECI has ordered the installation of benches, shaded waiting areas, and drinking water facilities at every booth. Special Voter Facilitation Posters (VFP) will be displayed to guide citizens on candidates and voting procedures. For the first time, a dedicated mobile-collection point will be set up outside booths where voters can securely deposit their switched-off phones before entering. Each center will also feature a Voter Assistance Booth (VAB) managed by officials to help citizens find their serial numbers instantly.
