A spine-chilling act of domestic violence has surfaced in the Mauaima area of Prayagraj, where a woman was arrested for allegedly mutilating her brother-in-law’s genitals.
The victim, 20-year-old Umesh, was found bleeding profusely in his room on the night of October 16. What initially appeared to be a mysterious attack by unknown assailants turned out to be a calculated plan for revenge by his own sister-in-law, Manju.
According to the police, the motive behind this horrific crime was a failed romantic relationship. Umesh was previously involved with Manju's younger sister and had promised to marry her. However, under family pressure, Umesh backed out and began showing interest in another woman. Devastated by the rejection, Manju's sister confined herself to her room. Unable to witness her sister’s suffering, Manju decided to take the law into her own hands. Under the cover of darkness, she entered Umesh’s room with a sharp kitchen knife and launched a brutal assault while he was asleep.
ACP Vivek Kumar Yadav confirmed that inconsistencies in Manju's statements during interrogation led to her confession. Umesh underwent a complex 90-minute surgery and is currently in stable condition, though full recovery could take months. Manju has been taken into custody, and a case of attempted murder and grievous hurt has been registered against her.
