Travelling home for the summer holidays just got easier. To accommodate the surge in passengers and ensure smooth travel during the peak holiday season, the Indian Railways has announced a massive rollout of 1,484 special trains.
This total includes 749 reserved and 735 unreserved train services.
Key Routes and Services: Central Railways will spearhead this initiative, primarily benefiting Maharashtra and neighbouring states. Key routes will include Mumbai-Solapur, Pune-Kolhapur, Nashik Road-Badnera, Mumbai-Ballia, Mumbai-Gorakhpur, and Solapur-Kalaburagi. Officials have stated that this advance announcement aims to mitigate the usual last-minute booking rush. Detailed timetables and stoppages for these services will be released shortly.
Additional Special Services from Santragachi: Indian Railways has also announced special services connecting Santragachi:
- Thiruvananthapuram North – Santragachi Express (06081): Departing March 13 and March 20 (Friday) at 2:15 PM.
- Santragachi – Thiruvananthapuram North Express (06082): Departing March 16 and March 23 (Friday) at 2:20 PM. Additionally, a Yashwantpur-Katihar special train has also been scheduled.
With the summer season leading to a massive spike in passenger volume, these additional trains are expected to significantly reduce waitlisted tickets and passenger inconvenience. Passengers are advised to keep an eye on official updates for specific schedule confirmations.
