BJP candidate and actor Hiran Chatterjee is back in the spotlight, not for his campaign, but for a brewing legal battle with his first wife, Anindita Chatterjee.
Following his nomination for the Shyampur assembly seat in Howrah, Anindita publicly questioned whose name Hiran disclosed as his spouse in the official affidavit. The controversy stems from viral photos of Hiran’s alleged second marriage in Benaras with Rhitika Giri, while his marriage with Anindita remains legally intact.
The affidavit revealed that Hiran mentioned Anindita as his spouse but labeled the relationship as 'Separated.' Speaking to the media, a furious Anindita claimed she never received a formal divorce notice. She took a sharp dig at the actor, asking, “Did he mention his mistress's name? Does the Indian Constitution allow such a declaration?” While Hiran chose to delete the viral wedding photos and stay silent on the matter, the issue of his dual marital status has now become a major talking point in the political circles of West Bengal.
