Exclusive: BharatPe's CPO Rohan Khara steps down

Entrackr 1 week ago

Rohan Khara, Group Chief Product Officer (CPO) at BharatPe, has resigned from the fintech unicorn, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Sources added that Khara is expected to remain with the company until August this year to ensure a smooth transition.

Khara was responsible for leading the company's product function and also oversaw marketing initiatives in his role as CMO. He had additionally served as Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for a period when BharatPe did not have a full-time technology head.

More recently, he had been leading BharatPe's artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives and overseeing several AI-focused projects across the organization, sources said.

Khara joined BharatPe in February 2024 from digital lending platform FairMoney, where he served as India Managing Director. Prior to that, he held leadership positions at Gojek and MobiKwik.

According to sources, Khara worked closely with BharatPe's leadership team on a number of strategic business and technology initiatives and played a key role in driving execution across multiple functions. Sources further indicated that after his planned break, Khara may explore entrepreneurial opportunities, although his future plans have not been finalized.

Queries sent to BharatPe did not elicit a response until publication of the story.

His departure comes amid a broader leadership reshuffle at BharatPe. Co-founder Shashvat Nakrani stepped down as Chief Operating Officer (COO) in April 2026. Following his exit, all of the company's original founders have moved away from active operational roles. Nakrani said he is considering a return to entrepreneurship while remaining associated with BharatPe at a strategic level.

Earlier, co-founder Bhavik Koladiya exited the company in 2022, while BharatPe resolved its long-running disputes with former co-founder Ashneer Grover through a comprehensive settlement in September 2024.

The company has also strengthened its leadership team ahead of its anticipated public market debut. In March 2026, BharatPe appointed Himanshu Verma as Head of its POS business. The Delhi-based fintech is targeting a potential IPO by the end of FY27 or mid-FY28.

Backed by Coatue Management and other investors, BharatPe serves more than 10 million merchants through its payments and financial services platform. The company reported a profit of Rs 6 crore on operating revenue of Rs 1,800 crore in FY25.
