Alert for SBI customers: The State Bank of India on Tuesday, March 31, informed that some of its services will be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled maintenance activity.

As part of the move, SBI UPI services will not be available for a period of 45 minutes.

This may come as an inconvenience to customers who may go out in the late hours and try to use SBI UPI services. However, with the bank's warning, SBI UPI users can now be equipped beforehand to avoid any inconvenience.

The SBI may experience intermittent disruptions on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the start of the financial year.

SBI services, including SBI UPI, IMPS, YONO, Internet Banking, NEFT and RTGS, will be unavailable for 45 minutes.

State Bank of India informed about the same on the X platform, stating,

Due to scheduled maintenance activity, our services UPI, IMPS, YONO, Internet Banking, NEFT and RTGS may experience intermittent disruptions between 12:15 Hrs and 13:00 Hrs (IST) on 01.04.2026 (45 Minutes).

Customers may use our UPI Lite and ATM Services during this period.

We regret the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

What should customers do?

SBI customers planning online transactions during the downtime can use the ATM and UPI Lite services instead. UPI might be unavailable, but UPI Lite will still work

Customers can also carry cash with them or use other bank accounts to make online transactions in case of emergencies.

"Meanwhile, customers are advised to use our ATM and UPI Lite Services. We regret the inconvenience and thank you for your patience," SBI said.

What is UPI Lite?

According to the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) website, "UPI LITE is a payment solution which is designed to process low-value transactions that are below Rs 1,000 in a faster and pin-less manner."

The upper limit of a UPI LITE Transaction is Rs 1000/- and the total limit of UPI LITE Balance is Rs 5000/- at any point in time or such other limits as may be prescribed by NPCI, from time to time.
