Aspirants did it for an entire generation chasing one exam.

Now it is coming back for a third time. And the story has moved somewhere nobody quite expected.

Where we left off and where we are now

When audiences first met Abhilash, SK and Guri in 2021, they were just three friends grinding through UPSC preparation in Delhi, broke, hopeful and holding each other together. The show hit something real. It was not just about the exam. It was about what that period of life does to people. The friendships. The sacrifices. The ones who make it and the ones who do not.

Season 2 deepened everything. The friendships got more complicated. The stakes got higher.

Season 3 picks up from a completely different place. Abhilash is now a DM, District Magistrate. He made it. He is inside the system he spent years trying to enter. And that is exactly where the new trouble begins.

What the trailer shows

The trailer has already been released and it does not waste time setting up the conflict. Power and old friendship are on a collision course. Sandeep Bhaiya, the senior figure who has loomed large over this story from the beginning, is now directly up against DM Abhilash. Two people who once sat on the same side of the table are now facing each other across it.

The makers summed it up in the trailer caption in a line that lands harder the more you think about it, postings are obtained through the system, but relationships get results through time.

That tension between the institution and the personal is what Aspirants has always been quietly about. Season 3 just makes it the main event.

The faces returning and the new one joining

The core cast is back. Naveen Kasturia returns as Abhilash. Shivankit Singh Parihar is back as SK. Abhilash Thapliyal, Sunny Hinduja, Namita Dubey and Tengam Selin all reprise their roles. Jatin Goswami joins the cast this season as a new addition.

The numbers that explain why this matters

Aspirants sits at 9.1 on IMDb. For context, that is higher than Panchayat which itself is considered one of the best Indian web series ever made. Numbers like that do not happen by accident. They happen when a show makes people feel genuinely seen.

The first season dropped on Prime Video in April 2021. The second came in October 2023. This third season arrives nearly three years after that second one, which means the wait has been long enough that audiences have had time to miss it properly.
