ECI.Gov.in, TN Election Results 2026 Live Updates: The Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu were held on April 23, and the counting of vote has started today (May 4) from 8 am.

Counting of votes from all 75,064 polling stations, along with postal ballots, is conducted at 62 designated counting centres across the state.

Initial trends emerging from the count of postal ballots in Tamil Nadu show that the incumbent DMK regime is on course to win the polls and retain power under the leadership of Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin.

Counting of votes is being held in Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, Puducherry and West Bengal after a riveting high-voltage contest with the outcome crucial for prominent ruling regional parties like the Trinamool Congress and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and the Left.

The EC said a three-tier security system will be in place at counting centres in Tamil Nadu. The exercise will begin starting with the postal ballots, at the counting centres, which will have a three-tier security system.

The EC has released the voter turnout figure of 4.8 crore for the April 23 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

In a first, the Election Commission has introduced a QR code-based Photo Identity Card system through ECINET to prevent unauthorised entry into counting centres.
