LPG Cylinder Prices Today: Prices for both domestic and commercial LPG cylinders increased following the onset of the war in West Asia in February.

The hikes were driven by supply shortages caused by disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy shipments.

India imports 60% of its LPG and about 90% of that normally transits Hormuz. When the route came under stress, monthly imports fell from 2.04 million tonnes in February to 1.12 million tonnes in March, a 45% collapse in 30 days, according to a PTI report.

Despite the supply crunch in recent weeks, the government has maintained that LPG supply in India remains stable and adequate. It also constantly advised customers to avoid panic booking and hoarding of LPG cylinders.

LPG Cylinder Price Today, April 12: Check city-wise gas rates

Domestic LPG prices remained unchanged on Saturday, April 11, holding steady after the announcement of a temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran. The pause in hostilities eased immediate geopolitical risk concerns.

Earlier, commercial LPG prices were sharply increased by Rs 195.50 per cylinder on April 1, driven by a rise in global crude oil rates amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. Rising tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States had earlier intensified concerns around LPG (cooking gas) supplies both in India and globally.

Notably, the price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder was raised by Rs 60 in March, but no revisions to rates have been introduced since then, keeping domestic LPG prices steady throughout the country.

Meanwhile, the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder was first increased by Rs 144 in March, followed by another hike of about Rs 200 on 1 April, pushing up costs for restaurants, hotels, and others.

LPG Cylinder Price Today: First Indian LPG ship crosses Strait of Hormuz

An India-flagged liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker, Jag Vikram, has crossed the Strait of Hormuz, marking the first such transit by an Indian vessel since a temporary two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran was announced, according to ship-tracking data, according to a report by PTI.

The tanker moved through the strategic waterway between Friday night and Saturday morning and was located in the Gulf of Oman, east of the Strait on Saturday afternoon, proceeding eastwards.

Jag Vikram is the ninth Indian vessel to exit the Persian Gulf since early March, while about 15 India-flagged ships remain in the region, awaiting passage.
