The Odisha government disbursed financial assistance under the flagship Subhadra Yojana to the scheme's beneficiaries today, Sunday, March 8, 2026, coinciding with International Women's Day 2026.
Odisha Subhadra Yojana 4th Instalment: Rs 5100 cr disbursed to over 1 cr women beneficiaries
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan disbursed over Rs 5,100 crore to over one crore women beneficiaries of Subhadra Yojana. CM Majhi disbursed the fourth instalment of the scheme at a special event held in Puri. Several state ministers joined the programme virtually from different districts.
An amount of Rs 5,000 each was credited to the bank accounts of 1.02 crore women, who have already received a similar amount in three instalments.
About Odisha's Subhadra Yojana
The scheme was launched on September 17, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday. Under the Subhadra scheme, all eligible beneficiaries are entitled to receive Rs 10,000 annually, disbursed in two instalments, up to a maximum of Rs 50,000, according to the scheme's official website.
As part of the scheme, an annual assistance of Rs 10,000 is disbursed in two equal instalments of Rs 5,000 on the occasions of Rakhi Purnima and International Women's Day (March 8).
Women aged 21 to 60 are eligible as beneficiaries of the Subhadra Yojana, which provides financial assistance from 2024-25 to 2028-29 to help them become financially independent and self-reliant.
The Subhadra scheme amount was last disbursed on January 22. The payout was earlier scheduled for January 18, 2026, but was deferred.

Addressing the gathering, CM Majhi said his government has succeeded in empowering the women of the state through the Subhadra Yojana. The scheme has socially and economically empowered the women and made them self-reliant.
Becoming financially independent, the Subhadra beneficiaries have created a special identity for them in society, he added.
The chief minister said the empowerment of Subhadra beneficiaries will accelerate the process to build a prosperous and Viksit Odisha.
He said that the state government has already transferred more than Rs 15,000 crore to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
Today, another Rs 5,106.33 crore has been disbursed to the bank accounts of 1.02 crore women beneficiaries through direct benefit transfer (DBT), he said.
"Those who are criticising the scheme should know that this money will go to the market of the state ... it will go to small traders, artists who are producing small items, and to the state's economy as it will enhance the buying power in many households," Majhi said.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said women beneficiaries of the Subhadra scheme will play a major role in building Viksit Odisha in 2036.
Distribution of over Rs 20,000 crore under the scheme proves the commitment of the government led by CM Majhi for the empowerment of women of the state, she said.

Odisha Subhadra Yojana 4th instalment: Eligibility
The women beneficiary must meet the following eligibility criteria to avail the benefits of Subhadra Yojana:
- The applicant must be a resident of Odisha.
- The applicant should be covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) / State Food Security Scheme (SFSS). Any woman from a family without an NFSA or SFSS Card can apply under SUBHADRA if her family income is not more than Rs 2.50.
- To be eligible under the scheme, the applicant's age should be 21 years or more and less than 60 years as on the qualifying date. The date of birth, as recorded in the Aadhaar Card would be taken as the final date for the calculation of her age.
- For the financial year 2025-26, the woman must be 21 years or more and less than 60 years, as on 01.04.2025. Therefore, the applicant must be born on 02.04.1965 or later and born on 01.04.2004 or earlier. The date of birth, as recorded in the Aadhaar Card, would be taken as the final date for the calculation of her age
- For 2025-26, if a woman attains the age of above 21 years on 01.04.2025, she will get Rs.10,000 per year, only for the remaining years of the scheme period. In 2025-26, women who complete 60 years of age on 31.03.2025, will not receive the benefits for the remaining years of the scheme period.
Odisha Subhadra Yojana 4th instalment: Ineligibility
The women falling under any of the following categories shall be ineligible to receive the benefits under the scheme:
- Any woman receiving financial assistance such as a pension, scholarship etc., of Rs 1500 per month or more or Rs 18,000 per annum or more under any State or Central Government Scheme would be ineligible.
- Any woman who either herself or whose family member is:
- A current or former Member of Parliament (MP) or Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).
- An Income Tax Payee.
- An elected public representative in any Urban Local Body or Panchayati Raj Institution (excluding Ward Member / Councillor).
- Employed as a regular or contractual employee in the State Government, Government of India or Public Sector Undertaking or Board or Local Body or Government Organization or is receiving pension after retirement. However, all workers receiving honorarium such as ASHA, Anganwadi Worker, Community Resource Person, Master Book Keeper, etc. and all those engaged through outsourcing agencies would be considered, if otherwise eligible under this Scheme.
- An elected/nominated/appointed representative in any Government Department or Undertaking or Board or Organisation of Government of India or State Government.
- An owner of a 4-wheeler Motor Vehicle except tractors, mini-trucks, small commercial vehicles and other similar light goods vehicles.
- The family of the applicant owns more than 5 acres of irrigated land or 10 acres of non-irrigated land. (N.B: For the purpose of this Scheme, the definition of family would be as defined in National Food Security Act (NFSA) / State Food Security Scheme (SFSS).)
Odisha Subhadra Yojana: Common FAQs
1. Are women receiving financial assistance under other schemes eligible to get Subhadra Yojana money?
Women beneficiaries of any kind of state or central government assistance, such as pension, scholarship, etc., amounting to a total of Rs 1,500 or more per month, or Rs 18,000 or more per year, are not eligible for the Subhadra Yojana.
2. My Aadhaar card only mentions the year of my birth. Can I apply for Subhadra Yojana?
To apply for Subhadra Yojana, applicants must possess an updated Aadhaar card that shows their correct date of birth.
3. In my Aadhaar and the bank account, the spelling of the name, title, or address is different. Will there be any problem in getting benfits of Subhadra?
The name and bank details must match those recorded in the Aadhaar card to ensure successful Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the beneficiary's account. Hence, necessary corrections or updates should be made in the Aadhaar card or bank records, as applicable.
4. Those who were eligible for Subhadra Yojana in the financial year 2024-25, but could not apply for the scheme for any reason, how many instalments will they get if they apply in the financial year 2025-26?
The applicants who have applied, if considered eligible after the determination of eligibility, will get two instalments for the financial year 2025-26.
