Pati Patni Aur Woh Do: Ayushmann Khurrana caught in a chaotic love trap as his film with Sara Ali Khan heads to theatres

The makers of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do officially announced the film's release date on Saturday, confirming that the comedy drama will hit screens worldwide on May 15, 2026. Along with the announcement, the first look poster featuring Ayushmann Khurrana was unveiled, giving audiences their first proper glimpse into what the sequel has in store.

The film had previously been scheduled for a March 4 Holi release but was pushed back. May 15 is now the confirmed date - though it places the film in close proximity to South star Suriya's Karuppu, which arrives a day earlier on May 14.

What the First Look Tells Us

The poster does a fair amount of storytelling on its own. Ayushmann appears trapped inside a net, with three women holding it from above - a visual that sets up the central chaos of his character's situation without spelling it out. A cheetah sits beside him for good measure. The overall tone is loud, comic and deliberately absurd.

Ayushmann's character has been named Prajapati Pandey. Sharing the poster, the actor wrote that the hunter had become the hunted, and that Prajapati Pandey had found himself well and truly caught in a trap.

The Cast and Crew

The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana alongside Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet Singh and Wamiqa Gabbi. It is directed by Mudassar Aziz, who also helmed the original 2019 film featuring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday. His return to the franchise brings continuity in tone even as the cast changes entirely.

Production is handled by Bhushan Kumar and Renu Ravi Chopra, with Juno Chopra serving as creative producer and Shiv Chanana as co-producer.

Ayushmann and Sara's Second Pairing

This is not the only project bringing Ayushmann and Sara Ali Khan together. The two are also set to appear in Udta Teer, a spy comedy thriller - making Pati Patni Aur Woh Do the first of what will be two collaborations between the pair.

With the release date locked and the first look generating conversation, the film now has roughly four weeks to build its campaign before hitting cinemas.
