Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured their second consecutive IPL title, beating the Gujarat Titans in the final of the IPL 2026 by 5 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
RCB emerged as the most dominant side in the league phase as well, attaining 18 points to top the table and then went on to win the Qualifier 1 with a massive margin of 92 runs. They convincingly defeated GT in the final, chasing the total of 156 in 18 overs. With the win in the final, RCB have become only the second team to retain their title in IPL history. MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings were the first to achieve the milestone in 2010 and 2011.

Virat Kohli, who is undoubtedly the biggest match-winner of RCB, stood out for the team in the final, scoring an unbeaten 75 in just 42 balls. RCB winning the IPL title in back-to-back seasons is a reward he got for all the patience and heartbreaks he and the team endured for the first 17 years. The fans also waited long to witness their team lift the title, and given the tragic incident that turned happiness into grief last year, it is time to taste the elation in a true sense.
Here's the incredible scene of RCB lifting the IPL 2026 title:

The coin flipped in RCB's favour as Rajat Patidar won the toss and elected to field first. Batting first, the Gujarat Titans struggled throughout their innings and posted a par total of 155/8 in 20 overs. Washington Sundar top-scored for the team with an unbeaten 50 off 37. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/29), Josh Hazlewood (2/37), and Rasikh Salam (3/27) shone with the ball, and their brilliant bowling was the reason behind GT's paltry score.
Chasing 156, RCB received an ideal start in the powerplay overs as Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli hit the high notes early on. Iyer made 32 off 16, which set the tone for the chase. Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, and Krunal Pandya, getting dismissed cheaply brought drama to the chase, but Kohli and Tim David's 41-run stand together ended all the suspense.
Eventually, Virat Kohli finished off in style with a six, and RCB became the IPL champions for the second consecutive season.
