Kunki Chowdhury, 27, Guwahati Central (Asom Jatiya Parishad)

Kunki Chowdhury is 27 years old Gen Z candidate who recently returned from London, and now she is standing for the Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP) from Guwahati Central.

Kunki completed her undergraduate BBA from the prestigious Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics before heading to University College London, where she earned a Master's in Educational Leadership in 2025. She returned to Assam not with a corporate offer letter, but a candidate's nomination form.

Her motivation, she says, is straightforward: to apply what she learned abroad to the ground realities at home. Her focus areas, skill development, women's empowerment, and safety are informed by her academic background and years of involvement with her family's non-profit educational organisation, which works for underprivileged communities.

Tanzil Hussain, Samaguri (Indian National Congress)

Tanzil Hussain is contesting as a candidate from the INC in the 2026 ASSAM Assembly elections. Voters of the SAMAGURI constituency in the NAGAON district of ASSAM will decide Tanzil Hussain's political fate. Tanzil Hussain is 27 years old and has an educational qualification of 12th Pass. No cases are registered against Tanzil Hussain. Tanzil Hussain's total assets amount to Rs 4.5Crore, while liabilities stand at Rs 1.4Crore.

He is the son of Dhubri Lok Sabha MP Rakibul Hussain, a man who held the Samaguri seat across five consecutive assembly elections from 2001 to 2021, making it something close to a personal fiefdom.

Ashna Thampi (26)

Ashna Thampi (26) is contesting the Ettumanoor constituency on a Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) ticket. She has emerged as the least wealthy contender in the Kerala Elections 2026.

She holds Rs 40 in cash and Rs 44 in her bank account, with no ownership of property, land, house, jewellery, or vehicles, Ashna has claimed in her affidavit.

She reportedly holds a degree in literature and a postgraduate diploma in journalism, and has been actively associated with the All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO).

She had shaved her head during one of her protests, drawing significant public attention. She also participated in agitations against the controversial K-Rail project.

Athira D. Nair (Ettumanoor constituency)

Athira D. Nair, who is contesting from the Ettumanoor constituency. She has emerged as the youngest alliance candidate in the state at 25 years old. To those who dismiss age as a mere number, Athira boldly responds, "Age does matter, brother."

Athira D Nair's educational qualification is Graduate and has declared SELF EMPLOYMENT as their profession. As per the election affidavit, Athira D Nair has total assets of 7.2 lakh and liabilities valued at Rs 0. Athira D Nair has declared an annual income of 20. Athira D Nair has declared no pending criminal cases, of which none are serious in nature.

At 28 years old, Afreen Shilpi, a first-time candidate of the CPI(M), is contesting from the Ballygunge Assembly constituency, carrying with her not just a party symbol but a political argument: that ideology, grassroots struggle, and accountability can still find space in an increasingly polarised electoral landscape.

A PhD scholar in Philosophy at Jadavpur University, Shilpi traces her political consciousness back to her early days on campus.
