How to Apply for a Child's PAN Card
If you wish to invest in mutual funds, stocks, or fixed deposits in your child's name, a PAN card is mandatory. Additionally, a PAN card helps avail the benefits of schemes such as the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana or any government scholarship. In this context, obtaining a PAN card for a child is a very simple process. You do not even need to step out of your home to do so; you can apply online directly from your mobile phone. The entire process costs just ₹107, and provided you have the correct documents, the application can be completed quickly.

Documents Required for a Child's PAN Card
Certain essential documents are required to obtain a PAN card for a child. It is advisable to keep these documents saved on your phone beforehand in PDF or JPEG format to avoid any inconvenience while applying for the PAN card.

Child's Birth Certificate: This is the most crucial document, as it serves as proof of the child's age.

Child's Aadhaar Card: The child's Aadhaar card is mandatory for submitting an online PAN card application.

Mother's or Father's Aadhaar Card: The Aadhaar card of either the mother or the father is required as proof of identity and address.

Guardian's Signature (Mother or Father): Since the child is a minor, the application form must be signed by either the mother or the father.

Two Passport-Sized Photographs: A photograph of the child is required; however, this photograph is not printed on the actual PAN card. When a child turns 18 years old, a photograph is affixed to their PAN card during the update process.

How to Apply for a Child's PAN Card?
Step 1: Visit the official NSDL website and click on 'Apply Online'.

Step 2: Select 'New PAN - Indian Citizen (Form 49A)' as the Application Type and choose 'Individual' under the Category section.

Step 3: Now, you will need to fill in your child's details; for instance, select 'Kumari' or 'Shri' as the Title. Enter the child's name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number. Subsequently, a 'Token Number' will be generated; please make a note of it.

Step 4: While filling out the form, when asked if you are a 'Minor' (i.e., under 18 years of age), tick 'Yes'. Here, you will be required to fill in the details of the 'Representative Assessee'-specifically, the mother or father.

Step 5: Now, upload the child's documents, such as their Birth Certificate, Aadhaar Card, and the parents' Aadhaar Cards.

Step 6: Proceed to pay the fee of ₹107 using Net Banking or a Debit Card.

Step 7: Finally, acting as the guardian or parent, complete the e-KYC process via Aadhaar using an OTP.

Step 8: Lastly, download the acknowledgment receipt.
