Prabhas to Resume Shooting for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit

FILMFARE 3 weeks ago

The action sequences in Prabhas' upcoming film Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, are reportedly being designed as raw and realistic hand-to-hand combat blocks.

While the buzz surrounding the film and Prabhas’s cop character has already generated immense excitement, the superstar is said to be keen on wrapping up the project by December. Prabhas is reportedly prioritising practical action sequences shot in real locations over heavy VFX-driven portions. As part of the latest development, the actor is now set to resume shooting for the film in Hyderabad.

Spirit shooting resumes in Hyderabad

The latest schedule of Spirit commenced in Hyderabad on Monday. Although it is expected to be a brief schedule, the makers have reportedly planned key portions at the iconic 45-year-old Vimal Theatre in the city. Mythri Movie Makers, who are backing the film, had revived the theatre a couple of years ago. Apart from action sequences, several talkie portions involving Prabhas and the supporting cast are also expected to be shot during this schedule. Sources suggest that Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi is participating in the current filming schedule as well.

A gritty, character-driven showcase

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga is said to be shaping Prabhas’ role into an intense and emotionally layered character. According to sources, the actor plays “an angry and uncompromising police officer entangled in a fierce battle against a massive mafia syndicate.” The filmmaker is reportedly designing Spirit as a gritty, emotionally charged action drama with strong character depth.

Prabhas’ physical transformation

To suit the demanding role, Prabhas has reportedly undergone a major physical transformation and achieved a leaner physique. The toned-down look is expected to help the actor perform heavily choreographed stunt sequences and intense combat scenes more convincingly.

“Spirit centres around four massive action episodes, including intense hand-to-hand combat sequences between the hero and the antagonist. Sandeep Vanga is betting heavily on the action portions and has done extensive pre-production work to achieve the desired impact,” a source added.
