Cal Raleigh is going through a rough patch this season. On Monday against the Houston Astros, the Seattle Mariners star once again failed to register a hit.
This saw his slump hit a brutal low as this became the longest hitless streak in the 2026 season.
The catcher took to the field on Monday, hoping to finally get a hit. His last hit came on April 27 against the Minnesota Twins.
Since then, he has not gotten a single hit. He went 0-for-4 against the Astros with 1 strikeout. This has left the American international with a 0-for-36 record. This is the worst slump of any player in the 2026 campaign.
This shocking development comes after Raleigh had his best year offensively in 2025. He led the league in home runs at 60 and became just the 2nd player in Mariners history, after Ken Griffey Jr., to hit 50 or more home runs in a season.
He also won the Home Run Derby last year. Despite the Mariners losing in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series, the 'Big Dumper' was one of the favorites to win the American League MVP award. In the end, Aaron Judge ended up taking this accolade, leading to several huge debates on social media.
As a result of this slump, Raleigh's season batting average has fallen to .157. In 39 games, he has hit just 7 home runs and has 18 RBIs. Though the Mariners won 3-1 on Monday, his form has now become a major concern for them.
Cal Raleigh currently holds the unwanted record of the longest hitless streak in MLB. It has been over 9 games since he last managed to get a hit in the league. Fans on social media dropped some wild reactions to this.
Several users on X trolled him for this. Some of them brought up his 'beef' with teammate Randy Arozarena at the World Baseball Classic (WBC) and called him out. One user wrote, 'one season wonder,' while reacting to it.
Check out that and some other reactions from X below:
Earlier this year, during the WBC, Raleigh refused to shake hands with Arozarena during the game between the USA and Mexico. After the game, Arozarena had some huge words for his club teammate.
The catcher claimed that there was no trouble between them. Ahead of the opening day, Arozarena released a statement and claimed that he had apologized for his words.
At the moment, Cal Raleigh is in a tough spot. The Seattle Mariners star has not been able to register a single hit in his last 36 plate appearances. While this is the longest hitless streak this year, he is still a bit away from matching the unwanted record in MLB.
As of 2026, the unwanted record for the longest hitless streak belongs to Chris Davis. The former Baltimore Orioles star went 0-for-54 between two seasons.
The slump for Davis started in September 2018 and stretched into the next season. On April 13, 2019, Davis snapped this long run with a two-run single against the Boston Red Sox in a bases-loaded situation. He went 3-for-5 in that game.
Another high-profile name who is struggling with the bat is Shohei Ohtani. The two-way star is not having a good time as a hitter this season. The Los Angeles Dodgers star went 0-for-5 against the San Francisco Giants on Monday, which dropped his season average to .233.
So it is not just Raleigh who is struggling. The Mariners and Dodgers fans will be hoping their stars break out of this slump soon, as the long race goes on.
