Since its initiation in 2017, Dana White's Contender Series has produced some of the most impressive fighters in MMA. The platform has also delivered competitive fights while giving emerging talent opportunities to reach the UFC. That was clear during Season 10, Week 3, when Alex Apodaca defeated Bella Mir to earn her UFC contract.

The daughter of UFC legend Frank Mir, Bella has built her own combat sports career despite her famous family connection. She previously competed in NCAA wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu before entering professional MMA. The 23-year-old won her first four professional fights before suffering her first loss against Apodaca on DWCS.

DWCS has produced several major underdog stories, and White has witnessed stunning upsets throughout the series. Yuneisy Duben shocked Shannon Clark at DWCS 70 after entering as a +800 underdog. Duben stopped Clark with a first-round knockout at 1:13, leaving the UFC CEO visibly astonished by the finish.

DWCS has gained more attention in recent years by introducing promising prospects to a wider audience. Magomed 'Chanco' Zaynukov earned his UFC contract after an impressive performance against Lucas Caldas. The Dagestani fan favorite later won his UFC debut with a unanimous decision over Damian Rzpecki at UFC Abu Dhabi.

Another major fighter to emerge from DWCS recently is undoubtedly Tommy 'Gun' McMillen. He earned his UFC contract after defeating David Mgoyan by majority decision in September 2025. McMillen then stopped Manolo Zecchini in his UFC debut before finishing Alberto Montes at UFC Oklahoma City in July.

Bella Mir's DWCS journey also reflects her longstanding connection with Dana White beyond her relationship with Frank Mir. The UFC boss has previously encouraged her to pursue college before MMA, adding another layer to their connection. Her first professional loss now marks a new chapter in the 23-year-old prodigy's career.

Since launching in 2017, Dana White's Contender Series has completed nine seasons and entered its 10th in 2026. The series began with eight weekly events before expanding to 10 episodes per season. More than 300 fighters have earned UFC contracts through the platform, establishing DWCS as a major UFC pipeline.

Several DWCS graduates have gone on to capture UFC gold, including former champions Sean O'Malley and Jamahal Hill. O'Malley earned his contract with a first-round knockout and later became bantamweight champion. Hill became the first DWCS graduate to win UFC gold, while Carlos Ulberg is now the light heavyweight champion.

The success of DWCS graduates has also translated into significant earnings after reaching the UFC. Dana White revealed the fighters have collectively earned $225.3 million in UFC pay since 2017.

The UFC boss has now revealed one graduate has earned more than $11 million despite never winning a UFC title.

One of the guys that never fought for a world title has made over $11 million. So, staying active and keeping yourself out there in everybody's face is not only good financially but, you know, you have a very limited amount of time to make a lot of money - in any sport. Staying active is the move. I love it.

Several DWCS graduates remain major names without challenging for a UFC title. Kevin Holland is among the biggest, while Carlos Prates has become a notable welterweight contender.

Mauricio Ruffy and Tallison Teixeira also remain prominent names in their divisions, making Dana White's mystery fighter difficult to identify.
