Pakistani veteran Mohammad Rizwan was brutally trolled by Bangladesh's Litton Das during the first Test of an ongoing two-match series.
The comments were captured by the stump mic, where Das made fun of Rizwan's 'reputation' while the batter was struggling.
The decline of Rizwan, who went from being the top-ranked T20I batter to a point where his inclusion in the national team is being questioned, has been a subject of discussion. A below-par PSL 2026 campaign added to the woes, with Rizwan only scoring 204 runs in ten matches for Rawalpindi Pindiz at an average of 20.40 and a strike-rate of just 116.57. Despite the poor numbers, he has been included in Pakistan's squad for the tour to Bangladesh.
Rizwan's struggles continued on the final day of the opening Test match against Bangladesh, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Chasing 268, Pakistan was at 121/5 when the wicket-keeper walked out to bat. A lot was expected out of him, given that he had scored 59 runs in the first innings of the match, to help his team to a 386-run total. Rizwan, however, failed to make an impact, as Pakistan lost by 104 runs.
To add to his woes, the right-hander was aggressively trolled on Day 5, most notably by Bangladesh's Litton Das. During the 38th over, Das was heard speaking from behind the stumps to spinner Taijul Islam. The 31-year-old mocked Rizwan's poor standing in international cricket and his perceived 'reputation' among Pakistani fans. Das even suggested that the batter was playing only for survival and would refrain from hitting attacking shots.
The Bangladeshi wicket-keeper further implied that Rizwan was under no pressure to win the game and was only trying to avoid dismissal to prevent issues with his return to Pakistan. Seemingly, the trolling worked, as it allowed Nahid Rana to subsequently get the better of Rizwan in the 47th over. The 33-year-old was bowled out by a 147 kph nip-backer from Rana. He had only scored 15 runs off 46 balls.
They will now play for survival; there's no pressure on them to win. And his [Mohammad Rizwan] reputation is already very bad in that country. If he tries to attack and gets out, he won't be able to return home, his reputation is already very bad there.
Rizwan's wicket triggered a collapse, leaving Pakistan struggling at 154/7 by the end of the 47th over. The visitors subsequently lost their final three wickets in the next six overs. This resulted in Bangladesh securing a 104-run victory and their first-ever home Test win against Pakistan.
Bangladesh secured a 1-0 series lead by beating Pakistan in the first Test in Mirpur by 104 runs. The home side's win was a team effort, overwhelming a Pakistani team that included stars like Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Agha, Shaheen Afridi, and Saud Shakeel.
Put to bat first, Bangladesh raced to a first innings total of 413 runs, guided by a remarkable hundred from Najmul Hossain Shanto, and contributions from Mominul Haque (91) and Mushfiqur Rahim (71). They were bowled out after 117 overs, with pacer Mohammad Abbas picking up a five-wicket haul. The visitors, during their first innings, almost matched Bangladesh's total, finishing with 386 runs on the board.
Pakistan's batting effort was led by 21-year-old Azan Awais, who scored 103, and fifties from Abdullah Fazal, Salman Agha, and Mohammad Rizwan. Mehidy Hasan Miraz picked up five wickets. The home side, leading only by 27 runs, went on to score 240/9 in their second innings, thanks to Shanto's 87 and Haque's 56. The 268-run target was enough for Bangladesh, as Nahid Rana's 5/40 restricted Pakistan to 163 runs.
The defeat cost Pakistan an opportunity to improve its position in the 2025-27 WTC standings. The second and final Test of the series is scheduled to take place at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, from May 16 to May 20.
