The youngster is getting more love from fans, unlike drivers in the past that used hard racing to their advantage and Joey Logano isn't happy about it.

Talking about the young Chevy driver in the latest episode of Kevin Harvick's Happy Hour podcast, Logano admitted that the king envy the fact that he didn't get the same love from the fans when he was 19 old. The three times Cup champion was a hard racer in his rookie years and was hated for it by the majority. The No:77 driver is wrecking more than he ever did and is getting applauded for it.

I don't understand though, when I came into the sport and I had run-ins with veterans and all that stuff, right? And people hated me for that, right? Forever. And to this day I still get booed like you wouldn't believe for the things I did when I was 19 years old. This kid comes in and wrecks way more people than I ever did, and people love him!

Later in the same conversation, Joey Logano talked about how Carson Hocevar is net positive for the sport and how the youngster has been successful in attracting more fandom to the sport. He is a big asset for the sport, as he capable of tapping into the young demographic of race fans NASCAR desperately trying to attract.

I think Carson's great for the sport. I think he brings a ton of new fans, different fans. Just the way he is different than the rest of us. The way he speaks, he's just, he's younger. Yeah, I don't know what he's talking about half the time, I don't know what these words mean. But people love it and there's no denying that and that's great, that's great for our sport.

In the same podcast, the veteran talked about what the No:77 driver needs to do to be better in his craft. He asserted that the youngster needs to understand the big picture and focus on winning races, as well as championship instead of getting involved in wrecks.

I did it. And I can relate a little bit to what Carson is going through right now. But there's also a moment where you've got to look at big picture… And say, okay, what do I want to accomplish in this sport? Am I trying to win a one-off race here and there? Or am I trying to win championships?

Furthermore, he asserted that he learned from his mistakes in rookie season and that made him the champion drive he is. The Spire drivers need to do exactly that in the coming races to fulfil his potential in the Cup series.

…And that game has to be played all the way through the whole season. I've made the mistakes. I know this. I've cost myself, I think, at least a championship…And not playing it out correctly. And so, he'll learn that. Right? And he already has some. But not enough.

The comments from the veteran racer are on point and shows how much he respects the talent of the young racer. It would be interesting to see if Hocevar would listen to the champion's advice and become a more respectful racer.
