The NASCAR community is morning the death of future Hall of Famer Kyle Busch, who died last week owing to severe Pneumonia and Sepsis.
Hendrick Motorsports' 2020 champion Chase Elliott was one of the many drivers that was hit hard with the tragedy, as he had a close relationship with the veteran and held him on high regard.
To honor the legacy of the late two times Cup champion, the No:9 Chevy driver has vowed to always be in support of Brexton Busch. Racing alongside his son, at least in the Truck Series, was one of the biggest dreams of late RCR driver. Though it will never happen, the community can pay their respect for the legend by helping his son to be the best version of the racer he can become.
I will throw my name out there now and for as long as needed, if I was ever to be needed for help, I hope Brexton knows that I'm a phone call away here, whatever, to try and lend a helping hand.
Chase Elliott said ahead of Coca cola 600.Further talking about the point, Chase Elliott admitted that though he doesn't have the same vast knowledge to share to Brexton Busch as Kyle Busch can, he would be able be help the racer to be better. Being a son former champion Bill Elliott, the racer knows what it will take to succeed as a second-generation racer in NASCAT and he seems to be one of the best fit people to impart that wisdom.
I can't promise that I would have as much knowledge to offer him as his dad, but I certainly would be more than willing to offer anything I do have to give him to help, because I've lived a lot of what he's going to likely see in the coming years of his career.
Chase Elliott added via Noah Lewis' YouTube channel. While Elliott was able to honor Busch with words at Charlotte, he failed to deliver performance on the track. He spun out early in the race, owing to a mistake from his own side making it a terrible race for him. It was one of the worst races of the 2020 champion's career.
I just made a mistake, spun out and hit the wall, unfortunately. I hate it. It's been a terrible race, I feel like, throughout the course of my career, just crashed a bunch.
Chase Elliott said.Further talking about the incident and how it is affecting his championship chances, the star driver admitted that he has more races left to redeem himself and get back to winning form. He made a mistake on Sunday and paid the price.
Just a lot of race left. I was trying to find something. We were bleeding pretty bad, and I moved up to the top there, trying to click off some faster laps and, yeah, I made a mistake, stepped over the line and paid the price.
Chase Elliott added. The coming weekends, starting from Nashville will demand more from the Chevy driver as he has to get back to competing upfront for wins to make sure HMS remains in the fight for the championship alongside JGR and 23XI. The Toyota's have a massive advantage at the moment and it is going to be tough to match them if the drivers are making more mistakes on the track.
