Jazz Chisholm Jr. Hits Back at Guardians Broadcaster and Critics for His Comments on Jimmy Fallon Show

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Hits Back at Guardians Broadcaster and Critics for His Comments on Jimmy Fallon Show

First Sportz 2 weeks ago

Jazz Chisholm Jr. probably did not expect to find himself in the spotlight following his comments regarding his team on 'The Tonight Show ' hosted by Jimmy Fallon . A day after Cleveland Guardians broadcaster Tom Hamilton threw a shade at him, the infielder hit back at him and other critics.

On Monday, the New York Yankees had a day off following their series win against the Athletics. On his free day, Chisholm Jr. made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon Show at Manhattan's Rockefeller Center and promoted his foundation.

During this appearance, the 28-year-old was asked by Fallon about the goals of the Yankees. Chisholm Jr. would confidently claim that their aim was to win the World Series and bring the championship back to New York.

I mean, to win a World Series. We're in New York.

For any team, winning the title is the ultimate goal. As for the Yankees, it has been a long time since they tasted success. Following their 27th World Series triumph in 2009, the Bronx Bombers had not won the title. They did play in the 2024 World Series but came up short against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On Tuesday, the Yankees began a 3-game set against the AL Central division leaders, the Cleveland Guardians. In the bottom of the second game, Tom Hamilton, the radio voice of the Guardians, took a dig at Chisholm Jr. for this comment.

He predicted the Yankees will win the World Series. He did that on the Jimmy Fallon show. Pretty amazing he got on the Jimmy Fallon show batting .239.

While Hamilton also made comments regarding Chisholm Jr.'s 30-30 season and All-Star season in 2025, that did not make rounds like his Jimmy Fallon Show dig did. Before the game on Wednesday, the 2-time All-Star brought his achievements and claimed that he was on the show to promote his charity.

I mean, I am a two-time All-Star. Just keep watching the games. Keep watching. I'm not trying to be arrogant or anything. First of all, it was really for my charity that I was there.

He then clapped back at those who ridiculed him for his World Series comment and questioned what else he was supposed to say.

Do people want me to say, 'Umm, I think my team is gonna come in third place and not make the playoffs and not get to the World Series? We're not gonna win it all this year, you guys.' 'Like no, that's stupid.'

Earlier this season, Chisholm Jr. made a similar comment regarding the Yankees. Before the Spring Training, the Bahamas-born star expressed confidence in his team and claimed that it was going to be a big year for them.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. answered back both with his mouth and his bat on Wednesday. He hit a towering shot in the 2nd inning to tie the game at 1-1. Despite this big spot from him, the New York Yankees ended up losing the series against the Cleveland Guardians.

After Kyle Manzardo homered for a second straight day for the Guardians, Chisholm Jr. brought his team back on level terms in the 2nd inning. He smashed a 98 mph sinker from Gavin Williams in the second deck in right field and silenced some of his critics.

A 2-run home run from Rhys Hoskins put the Guardians 3-1 up in the top of the 4th inning. Jose Cabellero's solo home run in the bottom of the frame cut the deficit to 3-2.

Jose Ramirez then joined the home run party with a solo homer of his own in the 6th inning and put his side 4-2 up. The Yankees once again answered back immediately with a sacrifice fly from Cody Bellinger.

A single from Hoskins in the 8th inning made it a 5-3 game. In the bottom of the 9th inning, Bellinger drove in another run through another sac fly. However, they were unable to get the tying run and suffered back-to-back losses.

This series loss against the Guardians means that the Yankees have won just one series this year against a team that entered Wednesday with a .500 win percentage or better.

Despite this loss, they remain just 1 game behind the Tampa Bay Rays in the AL East standings. Their division rivals got swept in a 3-game series by the struggling Detroit Tigers.

Meanwhile, the Guardians remain top of the AL Central standings. A win on Thursday would see them complete a sweep of the Yankees.
