The Austin race was packed with intense battles and thrilling moments, but it wasn't all smooth for everyone. For Lewis Hamilton, the weekend quickly turned into a disappointment when a spin on the third lap sent him into the gravel, ending his race early.

Hamilton managed to climb to P12, but his race took an unfortunate turn when he lost control of the rear of his car at Turn 19 on lap 3, resulting in an early retirement.

The incident frustrated him, especially since he rarely faces such issues. Reflecting on the spin, Hamilton admitted he couldn't remember ever spinning in a race before, or if he had, it might have happened only once in his entire career.

I've never spun in the race before, not that I remember at least, and if I have it can only be once maybe before in all these years.Definitely frustrating but I do know that it wasn't that I wasn't focused or anything, it's just unfortunate.

Hamilton voiced his frustration, stating that the crash was unfortunate, especially given his intense focus throughout the race. He noted how similar the incident was to George Russell's crash during qualifying at COTA. However, unlike Russell, the 39-year-old managed to avoid the barriers.

Lewis Hamilton asserts 'something's wrong' with the new upgrades introduced at the US GP

During Saturday's qualifying session, George Russell experienced the same issues as Lewis Hamilton in the race, leading to a loss of control and a crash into the barriers. He noted that something was wrong with the upgrades, contributing to both drivers' early exits.

Russell pointed out that even if the incident hadn't occurred on lap 3, it likely would have happened later due to the car's bouncing. He then opted to use the older package after his new parts were severely damaged.

So, as I say, George obviously had the same problem yesterday, and he's gone back to the old spec car, and he's looking good out there. So maybe there's something with our new upgrade.

The US GP was a challenging race for the Silver Arrows, who faced numerous struggles. However, Russell managed to endure those difficulties and finish in P6. Fans had high expectations for Hamilton since he had won at COTA six times previously.
