Manny Machado Drops Expletive 4-Word Reaction as Cubs Crush Padres 23-3

Manny Machado Drops Expletive 4-Word Reaction as Cubs Crush Padres 23-3

First Sportz 2 weeks ago

The Chicago Cubs hammered the San Diego Padres on Wednesday at Wrigley Field. The NL Central side put up 23 runs on the scoreboard as Dansby Swanson continued his hot streak.

Following the game, Manny Machado dropped an expletive 4-word reaction to this defeat.

The Cubs have been on a roller coaster ride this season. They have seen both the highs and lows with 10-game winning streaks and a 10-game losing skid.

The Chicago-based side took to the field on Wednesday hoping to complete the sweep. As for the Padres, they had already lost the series and were desperate for a positive result, having lost the previous series against the Los Angeles Dodgers as well.

The hosts took a 3-0 lead in the first inning through a Seiya Suzuki 3-run home run. Swanson, who was on fire against the New York Mets last week, smashed a solo home run in the 2nd inning.

With the Cubs leading 6-0 in the third inning, Swanson went yard again. The shortstop, who homered twice in their 9-7 win on Tuesday, hit his second home run of the game against Walker Buehler. His 3-run shot saw his team take a 9-0 lead.

The Padres pulled two runs back in the top of the 4th inning. A first MLB home run from Sung-Mun Song and a double from Ty France cut the deficit to 9-2.

There was no respite for them, though. In the 5th inning, Michael Conforto joined the home run party with a solo home run to center field. Pete Crow-Armstrong then slugged a 3-run home run and made it a 13-2 game.

Conforto homered in the 6th inning again. This time it was a 2-run shot. With the Padres trailing 15-3, they gave the ball to position player Rodolfo Duran.

The Cubs were in no mood to take their foot off the pedal. While leading 18-3, Swanson smashed his 3rd home run of the game, a grand slam this time, and put his team past the 20-run mark.

Michael Busch also ended up leaving the park with a solo home run. They put 8 runs in the 8th inning and ran out as 23-3 winners. In doing so, the Cubs also completed the sweep of the Padres.

When a team loses by 20 runs in a baseball game, there are hardly any positives to take. Manny Machado, who has a .190 average despite 16 home runs and 46 RBIs, dropped an NSFW reaction to this beating.

Got our a** spanked.

Got our a** spanked.

This was the Padres' 5th successive loss. In this stretch, they have lost one game by 12 runs and one by 20. Between this, they were walked off twice.

With the Dodgers losing as well, the Padres remain 12 games behind them. A 43-42 record sees them remain 2 games behind the final Wild Card berth in the NL standings.

The San Diego Padres were blown away in the 'Windy City.' Their 23-3 loss on Wednesday is the worst recorded in franchise history.

This defeat matched the most runs they ever allowed in a game. Coincidentally, that game was also against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. On May 17, 1977, the Padres suffered a 23-6 defeat against the NL Central side.

The 20-run difference is, however, the largest margin of defeat in their history. Before this, the biggest losing margin was 19 runs. They lost 20-1 against the Colorado Rockies in 2005 and 19-0 against the Dodgers and the Cubs in the 1969 season.

Manager Craig Stammen claimed that things were going 'poorly' for the team and that the team needed to show some grit.

It's going as poorly as it can right now. We got to find a way to dig deep, dig our way out of that hole. I think there's some grit on this team and we got to dig deep for that.

Craig Stammen told the reporters

Their next assignment sees them take on the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in a 4-game series. If they lose this series, they will fall further behind their division rivals.
