The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney surprised the motorsports community with his recent interaction with Mercedes F1 drivers George Russell . He met the British racer for the first time on the 'Fast Friends' YouTube show by Meta owned messaging app, WhatsApp.
In a video shared on YouTube, the duo was seen spending time together in a farm owned by Michelin-starred chef Jeremy Ford, in Homestead, Florida. They completed activities like picking ylang-ylang flowers, driving a tractor and collecting eggs and honey.
During the conversations, the F1 driver shared how much he respects different disciplines of racing and highlighted how there are some in the community that doesn't appreciate the technical side of racing in Ovals. That's why he admitted that he is open to racing in NASCAR one day.
I appreciate all forms of racing and I know the challenges in everything we do. Obviously, a lot of people for you guys on the ovals just think you're driving circles. And it's so much more technical than that. I definitely appreciate it. I'd love to try it one day.
George Russell told Ryan Blaney, in video released on WhatsApp's YouTube channel. The comments from George Russell took Ryan Blaney by surprise, and he responded by sharing his willingness to have a potential crossover. He likes road racing and is a fan of open-wheel racing as well. The veteran racer might be looking to have moment like the Lewis Hamilton-Tony Stewart crossover in 2011.
Well, we'd have to do a crossover, for sure. I didn't really grow up open-wheel racing at all, but I love road racing. It was a big thing for me to learn when I got into NASCAR because we do that quite a bit, and it's something I didn't really grow up doing.
Ryan Blaney responded. The Team Penske driver has signed a new sponsorship deal that would see more resources investment to his charity foundation. He has signed a new deal with The Farmer's Dog that would combine Blaney's love of dogs alongside the family foundation's mission to support those affected by Alzheimer's disease.
Our Foundation exists to support families navigating Alzheimer's and brain health challenges, and Dog Comfort Days is a natural extension of that work… We're glad to partner with a brand that understands the comfort and connection that dogs bring to the people and families we serve.
Patty Aber, managing director of the Ryan Blaney Family Foundation. The first public activation of the partnership is set to take place ahead of the Pocono Raceway's Bark Park and it will give the driver the opportunity to work on the goals that are close to his heart. It would be interesting to see how everything is going to playout for the star driver on his maiden race with the new sponsor.
