Russell Wilson made just six appearances in 2025 before entering free agency. The veteran signal caller plans to continue planning.
If Wilson finds a new team, he will enter his fourteenth season in the league.
However, Skip Bayless wants the 37-year-old to retire because he doesn't see Wilson starting for another team.
I know he's hanging on, but do you want to be the backup for a tanking team? Is that how you want to end it? [Wait a minute], no, you're Russell Wilson. You're a Hall of Famer. You went to two Super Bowls, you won one, and a lot of people think you should have won the other one.
Skip Bayless said in a recent segment of The Arena Gridiron ShowBayless is correct. The Seattle Seahawks drafted Wilson in 2012. In the very next season, he led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl triumph, and also played in a second championship game later in his career.
At the start of May, Wilson visited the New York Jets facility in New Jersey to talk business. The Jets are ready to give Wilson a one-year deal and are waiting for him to make up his mind.
Speaking at the Met Gala, Wilson revealed the meeting with the Jets went well.
[The visit] was great. [The New York Jets] offered me, and I'm trying to figure out what the next best thing is for me to do. I still know I can play ball at a high level, but also I have an opportunity to do TV (analysis), so we'll see what happens.
Wilson saidIn the meantime, CBS Sports reportedly approached the ten-time Pro Bowl signal caller to accept a job as an analyst with the network. In order to do that, he must retire from football, and that's exactly what Bayless wants him to do.
At some point, because you're hot right now as a TV guy, and I'm not saying [Russell Wilson] wouldn't be hot a year from now or two years from now, but he's hot… He does speak well, and he looks great, and he has good sort of charisma. They're beating down his door to get him now to commit to television.
At CBS, he's likely to assume the role left vacant by retired NFL quarterback Matt Ryan, who accepted the Atlanta Falcons to become the club's new President of Football. But Wilson must hurry up and make up his mind because the network already has a replacement lined up in Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly.
This past Sunday, on May 10th, the world celebrated Mother's Day, and Wilson made sure to wish his celebrity wife Ciara.

Wilson wrote on InstagramCiara replied, 'Awe I love you sooo much!! What a gift it is to raise our babies and to have you by my side through it all.'
