Just a month before the 2025 Masters Tournament, Tiger Woods has suffered a major injury setback. The five-time Masters champion has undergone a surgery on his ruptured Achilles and will be for a while.
The 49-year-old golfer was looking to make another comeback from surgery this year. After missing the cut at the 2024 Open Championship at the Royal Troon, Woods underwent back surgery, which sidelined him for months.
After missing out on, the Hero World Challenge, an event which he hosts at his course in Albany, Bahamas, Woods did play golf in December. He would team up with his son Charlie Woods to participate in the 2024 PNC Championship. Team Woods once again suffered a heartbreaking defeat in this event as they lost in the playoff round against Bernhard Langer and his son Jason.

Woods was then scheduled to play in the Genesis Invitational, another event which he hosts. However, after the passing of his mother Kultida Woods, the golfer withdrew from the event. He did later mentioned that he planned on playing some bigger events this year.
That plan now seems to be in jeopardy. While trying to ramp up his practice and training, the golfer ruptured his Achilles. He was thus required to undergo a surgery to repair them.
On Tuesday, Woods issued a statement regarding this. He informed that he was back home now and was on the road to recovery. However, he did not provide any timeline regarding his potential return.
As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured. This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon… I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support.
Tiger Woods said as a part of his statementA normal timeline for return from an Achilles injury is typically around 6-12 months. This means that Woods will not only miss the Masters Tournament, he is also likely to miss the other three major championships as well.
Last year, Woods participated in all 4 of them. His only cut though came at the Masters, where he eventually finished in last place after carding scores of 82 and 77 over the weekend.
Brandel Chamblee urges Tiger Woods to reach out to veteran golfer following Achilles injury

The analyst pointed out that the German international suffered a similar injury at the start of 2024. He though came back to win the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
He should reach out to Bernard Langer who tore his Achilles last year at the beginning of the year, had this remarkable recovery and then at the end of the year made the putt and won the Charles Schwab Cup at the end of the year on the PGA Tour Champions.
