Zion Williamson is six years into his career and has yet to participate in an NBA playoff game. Since Williamson joined the league, the New Orleans Pelicans, who selected him first overall in the 2019 draft, have lost twice in the first round.
With the recent reports emerging around him, it looks like Williamson's career might be over in the NBA.
Per various reports, Zion Williamson, the Pelicans star and a former overall No. 1 lottery pick, is facing r*pe charges in a lawsuit filed on Friday. Williamson's ex-girlfriend was the target of alleged abuse for several years, including physical threats against her and her family, according to the lawsuit. On Thursday, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
It was submitted anonymously, with Jane Doe as the identity. Williamson was charged with 'abusive, controlling, and threatening behavior,' according to the lawsuit, reporter Eriq Gardner said. A statement on the case against Williamson was issued by her legal team. This will completely hamper Williamson's image, putting his professional basketball career in jeopardy.
Per reports, various allegations were made by Jane Doe per her law firm. One of them being the Pelicans star, 'Threatening to have his paid security guard kill Plaintiff's parents, after informing Plaintiff that he knows their home address multiple times in Louisiana between 2020 and 2023.' If found to be true, Williamson may find himself in deep hot waters in the coming days.
According to the lawsuit's plaintiff, she and Williamson began dating in 2018 while he was still a Duke student athlete, and they remained together for the following five years, until 2023. She says Williamson would 'cho*e or sm*ther her' and mistreat her 'se*ually, physically, emotionally, and financially,' making her fearful for her life.

It's important to note that the identity of Williamson's ex-girlfriend has been kept private, as per her law firm. Given that, with all these allegations, only time will tell whether or not Williamson will be allowed to play professionally or not.
Not the FIRST time Zion Williamson was accused of r*pe by his ex-relationships
One thing that the Pelicans star is known for throughout his NBA career: his bad public image due to his past relationships. It's not the first time Williamson has been accused of such a major allegation. In 2023, ad*lt star, Moriah Mills said that Williamson 'ruined' her life in a series of tweets that included purported text messages between the two of them.
By disclosing specifics about their alleged relationships, Mills claimed that Williamson was also se*ually involved with her. To add to this, Mills was not the only woman involved in Williamson's life. The Pelicans star was also involved with a woman named Ahkeema Love, with whom the Pelicans PF once announced that he was going to have a baby.
Only a few months back, as per NY Post, Williamson's alleged stalker, Ahkeema Love, reportedly assaulted a romantic rival inside his home — hitting her with keys, tearing off her nails, and threatening her: 'Count your days… it's going to be your head next when I drop this baby.' In addition, she also allegedly egged Williamson's house.
Hence, Williamson being accused of allegations is not unfamiliar amongst the NBA community. However, the recent ones being imposed on him are way more serious than the previous ones.
Pelicans are open to trading their star, Zion Williamson, ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season
The 2024-25 Pelicans had the second-worst record in the team's history, finishing 21-61. Williamson had another injury-plagued season, and amid a roster purge, there has been increased conjecture in recent weeks that New Orleans may try to trade the two-time All-Star. Notably, Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor opened up on the Pelicans' trading plan.
There are no untouchables in New Orleans. League sources say the Pelicans are gauging the market for everyone on their roster. They very well could end up keeping their core pieces, namely Zion Williamson, but it appears the Pelicans are looking into taking different paths this summer depending on what opportunities become available.
Kevin O'Connor wroteThis also includes their $197 million star man, Zion Williamson. Furthermore, despite playing in just 30 games in 2024-25, Williamson, who is only 24 years old, averaged 24.6 points per game while playing fewer than 30 minutes on average. Only time will tell how his future unfolds in the NBA.
