Uber Has Now Got A New Logo, Mission Statement: Check Out All The Details
The ride-sharing app, Uber, has announced some big changes! The company is changing its logo, and its mission statement. Apart from that, Uber has also redesigned its app, making it easier to recognize and use.
Uber had last changed its logo about two years ago, but apparently, the company wasn't happy with it. Now, the new logo is just a word-mark, but had a lot of thought put into it. Logos are important and need to stand out so users can easily spot it among a bunch of other apps, or in the world. It took Uber about nine months to finish the rebranding and redesigning of the app.
Uber: New Logo
According to a report, the new Uber Logo uses a custom font called the 'Uber Move', which was designed with the help of MCKL. Uber is also using new colors and adding more animations within its mobile apps.
To start with, Uber is getting rid of the symbol that was used on its app icons. The company conducted an internal research and found that the symbol wasn't associated to Uber by most users. And we can vouch for that. People just didn't understand the logo that well.
The company focused on three important aspects of the brand. The name, the letter U, and black. Uber has been using the color black for a very long time. When people think of Uber, the color black usually pops in to their mind. And, the company stuck with that, to make the new logo.
As you can see in the image above, the new Uber logo is just a word-mark that reads Uber. When you look at the right side of the capital U, and the left side of the letter b, it forms two parallel lines, like the road. And this has been used in the new app redesign as well. When you open the app, the letters would disappear and zoom into the two lines and then go to the map.
Uber also focused on the colors used, and went with the usual black and white for the redesign. The company has also used several other colors within the app, which are derived from transportation. Colors such as soft hues of purple, red, yellow, orange, green, and brown are present. It uses Blue as the safety color, and is present as an accent color in the app.
Basically, with all these changes, the company wants users to know when they're getting in to an Uber car, or scooter, or if they see they logo somewhere. Here's what Uber's Executive Director of Brand, Peter Markatos, had to say this about the importance of the new logo:
"Making sure that when an Uber shows up, then that's very clear. This has implications when it comes to safety, when it comes to accessibility, so we took this very seriously."
As per Uber, the app updates are rolling out right now, and users should see the new logo by the end of this week. However, the in-app design, and the logo and interface of the app for Uber Drivers will take a while to be updated. There are millions of Uber drivers around the world, and making the change on all those cars, is going to take some time.
Uber: The New Mission Statement
The company has also changed its mission statement, as noticed by a Twitter user. The new statement is shown on the Company Information page for Uber, and it reads "We ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion."
The mission statement used to say the following before "Make transportation as reliable as running water, everywhere, for everyone."
