22 May 2026, New Delhi: Unizeb Gold is a protectant fungicide manufactured by UPL do Brasil, formulated with mancozeb at 750 g/kg in water-dispersible granule (WG) form.
Mancozeb belongs to FRAC Group M03 (multi-site contact activity). The WG formulation disperses in water to produce a uniform spray suspension.
Mancozeb is a dithiocarbamate fungicide that acts at multiple biochemical sites in fungal cells, including inhibition of enzymes involved in respiration and disruption of lipid metabolism. Because it acts on multiple sites simultaneously, the probability of resistance development through single-step mutations is considered low. Mancozeb is active only by contact; it has no systemic or translaminar movement within plant tissue.
- Soybean - foliar diseases including Asian soybean rust (in programs with systemic partners)
- Corn - gray leaf spot, common rust, northern leaf blight
- Cotton - Alternaria leaf spot, Cercospora leaf spot, Ramularia areola
- Rice, Wheat, Barley, Potato, Tomato, Banana, Apple, Citrus, Beans, Grape
FRAC classifies multi-site contact fungicides (Group M) as having a low resistance risk. Because mancozeb acts on multiple fungal targets, it is used in programs alongside systemic fungicides (triazoles, strobilurins, carboxamides) to reduce selection pressure on those single-site products.
FRAC-BR recommends that no single-site fungicide be applied in consecutive applications to the same pathogen within a single crop cycle. Tank-mixing or alternating with a Group M product such as mancozeb is a standard practice in Brazilian fungicide resistance management programs.
- Apply preventively, before or at the earliest signs of disease
- Use ground boom or aerial sprayer; flat fan or hollow cone nozzles for adequate coverage
- For soybean: follow recommended spray intervals based on disease monitoring and local extension guidance
- For rice: begin applications at early booting stage; apply at 10-day intervals as indicated
- Do not mix with strongly alkaline products
The WG formulation does not generate dust during preparation, which reduces operator exposure during tank mixing compared to wettable powder (WP) formulations. Granules disperse upon contact with water to form a stable suspension.
