PANAJI: Don Bosco College Panaji emerged champions of the Goa University InterCollegiate Cricket Men Championship 2025-26 after defeating Goa Medical College by seven wickets in an exciting final played at the Goa University Ground on April 2. After winning the toss, Don Bosco College elected to bowl first.
Goa Medical College managed to post a total of 122 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Adarsh Naik top scored with 33 runs from 31 balls, while Rohan Vadyekar added a useful 23 runs from 21 deliveries.
The Don Bosco bowlers delivered a disciplined performance to restrict the opposition. Sankalp Prabhu led the attack with impressive figures of three wickets for 18 runs. Sameer Harmalkar, Rudrakshy Sangodkar, Ajay Prajapati and Anuresh Kambli contributed with one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 123 runs, Don Bosco College produced a confident batting display and reached 123 for three in just 12 overs to secure the title. Aman Kambli starred with the bat, scoring a powerful 66 runs from 35 balls, while Sapnish Satarkar supported well with 31 runs off 22 deliveries.
For Goa Medical College, Rohan Vadyekar took two wickets for eight runs, while Adarsh Naik claimed one wicket for 24 runs.
Aman Kambli was named Player of the Match for his match winning innings, while Sankalp Prabhu received the Best Bowler of the Match award for his impactful spell.
The Best Player of the Championship award went to Adarsh Naik of Goa Medical College for his outstanding all round performance throughout the tournament. Naik scored 250 runs at an average of 62.50 with a strike rate of 126.26 and also took five wickets in six innings. His contributions also included two fielding dismissals during the competition.
The valedictory ceremony was attended by Dr J P Tiwari, Dean of Goa Medical College. Guests of honour included Dr Ujwala Hanjunkar, Incharge Vice Principal of Vidya Prabodhini College, Dr Poonam Tiwari of Goa Medical College and Balachandra B Jadar, Assistant Director of Physical Education and Sports at Goa University, who presented the trophies and medals to the teams.
