Panaji: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has raised concerns over a recent order issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas restricting the supply of LPG cylinders to domestic consumers, warning that the move could severely affect Goa's hospitality sector.

Referring to the order dated March 5, 2026, Alemao said the restriction could potentially paralyse operations of hotels, restaurants, eateries and catering businesses across the state.

He cautioned that the decision may have a ripple effect on Goa's tourism-driven economy, impacting employment and the livelihoods of thousands of people dependent on the hospitality industry.

Alemao urged the Goa government to immediately take up the matter with the Union ministry and seek a workable solution that ensures regulated LPG supply for the hospitality sector without compromising the needs of domestic consumers.

He stressed that while priority to household consumers is important, the state must also safeguard its tourism and hospitality industry, which forms a crucial pillar of Goa's economy.
