The accused, identified as Sanjeeb Singh, a resident of Hengrabari, was allegedly involved in transporting stolen mobile devices. Police seized the handsets from a vehicle that was intercepted during routine naka checking, marking a major crackdown against illegal activities.
According to officials, Singh was attempting to smuggle the stolen devices across the international border when police personnel stopped the vehicle and detained him on the spot. The timely intervention prevented the suspected smuggling attempt.
Preliminary findings suggest that the recovered phones were stolen from multiple locations across the state. It has been suspected that Singh may be linked to a larger organised network involved in mobile theft and illegal distribution.
Law enforcement authorities have stepped up surveillance and checking operations in the area as part of an ongoing effort to dismantle such networks. Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved and to trace additional stolen items.
