Dry Day Declared in Kamrup Metro on May 4 Ahead Of Assam Poll Counting

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metropolitan district administration has declared a dry day on May 4, in view of the counting of votes for the Assam Assembly elections 2026.

According to an order issued by the district administration, all wholesale bonded warehouses, IMFL retail “OFF” and “ON” shops, clubs, hotels, microbreweries, composite liquor shops and country spirit shops will remain closed till the completion of the counting process.

The order was issued in connection with the General Elections to the Legislative Assemblies of Assam, 2026. The administration warned that any violation would invite penal action under the law.

Meanwhile, dry day restrictions are also expected to be implemented across Assam as part of election-related regulations during the vote counting process.
