According to an official notification issued by the District Administration, the commissioning process for the five constituencies namely Dispur, Dimoria, New Guwahati, Guwahati Central and Jalukbari will be conducted at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Betkuchi under strict supervision.

The exercise is a crucial pre-election procedure that ensures all EVMs and VVPATs are configured accurately with the names and symbols of contesting candidates.

The process is being conducted with technical support from engineers of Electronics Corporation of India Limited, who are authorised to handle and verify the machines. Election officials, along with contesting candidates or their representatives, will be present to maintain transparency and accountability.

Officials further highlighted that the second phase of EVM and VVPAT randomisation will be conducted in a secure and monitored environment to ensure the integrity of the electoral process. The commissioning of EVMs is a vital step in preparing for the elections, as it directly impacts the accuracy and credibility of the voting process.

Polling for the 126-member Assam Legislative Assembly is scheduled for April 9, with the counting of votes set to take place on May 4.
