The complaint, filed through the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), has been forwarded by the state’s Women and Child Development Department to the Medical Education and Research Department for action under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act.

The grievance has been attributed to Mythili Hazarika, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology at GMCH. The official communication refers to a demand for immediate suspension of the accused, highlighting the seriousness of the allegations.

Hazarika had earlier filed a complaint at Panbazar Women Police Station in February against GMCH principal Achyut Baishya, alleging that he repeatedly called her for private meetings and made remarks that caused discomfort.

She also alleged administrative obstruction, including delays in formalising her appointment as Head of Department and resistance to her academic proposals. Baishya had earlier stated that he was instructed not to speak to the media and had submitted necessary documents for the inquiry.

Following the complaint, the state government constituted a two-member committee led by women officials to probe the matter, while police initiated a preliminary investigation. The Medical Education and Research Department will now examine the case and take further action.
