GUWAHATI: The Office of the Superintendent of Police Chief Minister Special Vigilance Cell in Guwahati has been declared a containment zone for next seven days by Kamrup Metro District Administration after the detection of a significant number of COVID-19 positive cases there, a notification by the Administration stated.

The boundaries of the containment zone lie at ASTC Workshop towards the north, GMC road towards the south, Srimantapur Road towards the east and Rupnagar main road towards the west.
The order is said to be effective from October 27. As such, any unauthorised entry and exit into the notified containment zone will be barred for the next seven days.
As per the notification, any violation of the order will attract actions under the provision of the Assam COVID-19 Regulations, Disaster Management Act 2005, The Epidemic Disease Act 1897 and other relevant laws of the nation.
