GUWAHATI: In two separate operations, Basistha Police have arrested four individuals involved in theft and snatching incidents across the city, recovering stolen vehicles and valuables.
The operations were led by Basistha Police OC Kapil Pathak.

In the first case, two thieves, Asmat Ali from Hajo and Bimal Chettri from 9th Mile, were apprehended within six hours of a theft incident reported from 9th Mile. The duo had allegedly stolen several valuable items, including brass utensils and a gas cylinder, from a residence. During interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in multiple thefts in different parts of Guwahati.
In a separate operation, police arrested two notorious snatchers identified as Enamul Ali from Hatigaon and Partha Pratim Medhi alias Bihari from Katahbari. Three stolen vehicles and cash were recovered from their possession. The accused had reportedly stolen two scooters from Dispur and one from Paltan Bazar.
Police said the duo had also snatched a bag containing ₹2,500 from a woman in Lakhra on April 23. Investigations revealed that the stolen scooters were used to carry out thefts across various parts of the city, creating panic among residents.
Following sustained efforts, Basistha Police successfully tracked and apprehended the accused. Further investigation is currently underway.
