Organised in collaboration with the Cotton University Students’ Union, the competition is a crucial part of Nirvan Theatre’s 10th Annual Drama Festival, marking a decade of contribution to performing arts in Assam.
The mono act competition is being organised in memory of Nayani N. Choudhury, a revered figure in Assamese theatre. The event aims to honour her legacy by nurturing and showcasing emerging acting talent from across Assam and beyond.
Participants from various parts of the state and beyond are expected to compete, making the event a melting pot of fresh perspectives and theatrical styles. Organisers say the competition is designed not just as a contest but as a platform for young artists to gain exposure, connect with peers, and refine their craft.
Winners will be awarded cash prizes, with ₹7,000 for the first position, ₹5,000 for the second, and ₹3,000 for the third.
The mono act competition is one of several events planned under Nirvan Theatre’s 10th Annual Drama Festival. The festival will also feature one-act plays, full-length productions, and cultural performances.
