GUWAHATI: The Office of the District Commissioner, Kamrup has released a detailed schedule for setting up Facilitation Centres to enable postal ballot voting ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
Dry Days Announced in Kamrup Metro From April 7 to 9 in View of Assam Polls
The initiative is intended to assist eligible voters deployed on election duty, in police services, and other essential roles, thereby ensuring that they can cast their votes conveniently in advance. The move aligns with the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India to ensure inclusive and hassle-free participation in the electoral process.
As per the official notification, the first Facilitation Centre will be set up on April 3 at the Integrated DC Office in Amingaon. This centre will operate from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and will cater exclusively to police personnel.
Subsequently, polling and presiding officers can access the facility to be set up at DK College in Mirza on April 4 and April 5, with operating hours remaining the same.
The Facilitation Centre will then return to the Integrated DC Office in Amingaon, functioning from April 6 to April 8, again between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
Officials said the arrangement is aimed at ensuring that voters who may not be able to be physically present on polling day are still able to exercise their democratic right without inconvenience.
Eligible voters have been urged to make use of the facility within the specified dates and timings.
